How to add or remove friends on Discord

The Discord, chat software for gamers, allows easily add friends to your contact list. Through it, it is possible to manage which servers you use in common. The feature greatly facilitates communication between people, whether to chat or schedule that Friday night game.

Adding friends to Discord is a simple task. Discord is also popular because of its availability for PC and Web, Android and iPhone devices ( iOS ). For beginners, it is common to experience difficulties to send and accept friendship invitations and to better organize their contact list. There are two ways to add a friend to Discord: through the search engine, or through the user’s profile.

1. Using the search tool

  1. Open Discord and click on the Friends option.
  2. Click the Add friend button.
  3. In the search field, enter the user’s DiscordTag, and click the Send friend request button.
    DiscordTag is composed of the user name, the character # and a sequence of four numbers, generated by Discord. For example, The Gamer #1234.

And ready.

For this method to work, it is mandatory to know the DiscordTag of the user you want to add as a friend.

2. Through the user’s profile

If you are part of a server with several other users, and you want to add one of them to your friends list, the easiest way is to do it directly through their profile.

  1. Right-click on the avatar of a Discord user, and then on Profile
  2. Click the Send friend request button.

That simple.

You can also right-click on the avatar, and then click on Add Friend. The result is the same.

Whichever method you choose to add a contact to your friends, the request needs to be approved by the user, and only then, it will appear on your list. The feature offers some advantages, such as managing which servers you access in common, and makes contact between people a lot easier.

How to Remove Friends on Discord

You’ve added someone as a friend and now want to unfriend him/her. Here is how to do it:

  1. Right-click on the avatar of a Discord user, and then on Profile
  2. Click on three vertical dots
  3. Now click on remove

This will help you to remove users from the friend list.
